RALEIGH — State investigators brought charges against a Creedmoor man this month and accused him of seeking out sex with an underage girl online.
A social media site reported Martin Bruce Alston, 27, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, saying Alston had been having sexual conversations with a 15-year-old girl, according to officials.
The case was investigated by the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation computer crimes unit. According to a bureau spokesperson, Alston sent the girl, who lives in North Carolina, a sexually explicit image. He also met up with the girl and had sex with her, investigators said.
The SBI issued a warrant to charge Alston with statutory rape of a person less than 15, disseminating obscene materials to a minor, taking indecent liberties with a child, and soliciting to meet by a computer.
Butner Public Safety arrested Alston on May 12. He was issued a $370,000 secured bond and held at the Granville County Detention Center.
The jail this week said it did not have Alston’s mugshot.
