Man wanted in connection to non-fatal Franklin shooting

FRANKLINTON — Deputies are looking for information about a man accused of shooting another person Sunday evening.

Marquis Terrell Copeland, 35, is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and firing a handgun into an occupied vehicle, according to a wanted poster from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Copeland is accused of shooting Antoine Steed “following a dispute,” said Terry Wright, chief of staff at the sheriff’s office.

The shooting happened at 11:25 p.m. on Cedar Hills Drive in Franklinton.

Steed was taken to Duke University Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not provided.

Deputies did not say where Copeland lives, but said he is known to frequent Louisburg, Franklinton and Youngsville.
