OXFORD — Granville County Public Schools will suspend its free meal program later this month, while staff are scheduled to be away from work for the district’s spring break.
The program, which has handed out nearly 50,000 meals as of Monday since classes were suspended last month, will be suspended April 10 and will return April 18, according to a district spokesman.
Community partners will work to provide meal options for students during that time, the district said. Details about those options, or how community volunteers could get involved, were not available by press time.
The school district hands out breakfast and lunch at 28 drive-thru sites across Granville County.
Citizens can donate to the program at Union Bank in Oxford or Creedmoor, the district said.
