BUTNER — The South Granville Athletic Association canceled its fall sports season because of the coronavirus.

“It is with extreme disappointment that I have to report that we have decided that it is not in the best interest of our players, spectators, coaches, officials or the community to proceed with fall sports,” said Shannon D. Conley, an association spokesperson.

“We do plan to discuss winter sports in a few months once we see where this pandemic takes us,” Conley said.

SGAA was founded in the late 1970s as a membership-based organization offering athletics to youth. It is now led and run by volunteers.

SGAA offers football, softball, baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and cheerleading.
